Benchmark indices on Thursday resumed their upward run after a single-day halt, led by gains in IT and automobile stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty eventually closed at 22,217.45-level after touching an all-time high of 22,252.50. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Coal India Ltd (CIL), Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, ITC and HCLTech while losers included Indusind Bank, HDFC Bank, BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HUL.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Axis Bank, SBI and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid and CIL were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Graphite India Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 11.43% on NSE today to settle at Rs 607.85. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 11,875.9 crore.
ABB India Ltd shares soared 8.83% to close at Rs 5,425. The company's m-cap came at Rs 1,14,960.3 crore.
Data Patterns (India) Ltd shares surged 8.67% to close at Rs 2,239.05. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 12,535.1 crore. Tata Investment Corporation, NCC, G R Infraprojects and Hindustan Copper were some of the other gainers.
Shares of JBM Auto Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 3.61% to close at Rs 2,226.9 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 26,332.5 crore.
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd shares slipped 3.53% to end the session at Rs 2,159.3. The company's m-cap came at Rs 36,579.8 crore today. Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, Supreme Industries, Phoenix Mills and KEI Industries were among some other laggards.
