Sensex, Nifty trading on a flat note

The domestic equity market was trading on a flat note in the afternoon session today. Sensex fell 22 points to 74,205 and Nifty declined 17 pts to 22,497.

Headwinds for market have emerged

V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "Some headwinds which have the potential to impact equity markets have emerged. One is geopolitical: the Iran-Israel skirmishes. The second is the concern that the rate cut expected from the Fed can be lower than three and that the first cut may come only in October. The US jobs data to be released today will throw more light on this. The Middle East skirmishes have pushed up Brent crude to $91 and if oil continues to rise that can pose macro headwinds for India."

Adani Power

Shares of Adani Power snapped the record breaking run of five sessions on Friday amid weakness in the benchmark indices. The Adani Group stock fell 3.73% to Rs 618.15 against the previous close of Rs 642.15. Adani Power shares had risen 24% in the last five sessions. It touched a record high of Rs 647 in the previous trading session.  On April 3 too, the stock made a new high of Rs 617.75 on BSE.

IREDA

Shares of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) rose over 10 per cent on BSE. The stock rallied after BSE revised the circuit filter limit for the state-run financial player to 20 per cent from 5 per cent earlier. Shares of IREDA surged 10.15 per cent to Rs 174.45 on Friday.

Vedanta

Shares of metal and mining major Vedanta Ltd hit their 52 week high in early deals today. The shares of Anil Agarwal-led firm rose 4.67% to a 52-week high of Rs 312.50 in early deals. In terms of returns, the stock fell 28.11% in two years and rose 7% in a year. In five years, the stock has climbed 61.90%.The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 308 on April 3, 2024 and Rs 301.90 on April 2, 2024.

Canara Bank

Shares of Canara Bank hit a 52 week high of Rs 618.95 on BSE today, Market cap of Canara Bank stood at Rs 1.11 lakh crore on BSE. Total 1.80 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 11.04 crore.

HDFC Bank

Shares of HDFC Bank continued their bull run for the seventh straight session today. The stock rose 1.22 per cent to hit a day high of Rs 1,546. The stock has gained 8.38 per cent higher in seven trading sessions. Market cap of the bank stood at Rs 11.77 lakh crore.

NCC

Shares of civil construction firm NCC hit a record high rising 8.6% to Rs 276.95 on Friday. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 17,111 crore. Total 5.25 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 14.09 crore on BSE.

Cochin Shipyard

Shares of Cochin Shipyard hit a record high rising 4.45% to Rs 1117.55 on BSE. Market cap of Cochin Shipyard stock climbed to Rs 28,448 crore. It fell to a 52-week low of Rs 234.53 on May 25, 2023.

HEG

Shares of HEG hit a 52 week high of Rs 2127.25 on BSE. Market cap of HEG stock climbed to Rs 8128 crore. Total 0.13 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 2.72 crore on BSE.
