Sensex, Nifty trading lower

The domestic equity market was trading lower on Wednesday. Sensex fell 261 points to 73,415 and Nifty fell 102 pts to 22,254. Market cap of BSE-listed firms fell to Rs 3.86 lakh crore.

Nifty likely to consolidate around current levels

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "Nifty is likely to consolidate at around the present levels. Dips will be bought since institutional buying has been strong. Sentiments are a bit weak in the NBFC space due to RBI’s restrictive actions against some NBFCs."

Bharti Airtel

Shares of Airtel were trading flat against the previous close of Rs 1168.70. The stock was trading at Rs 1,169 in the current session. Bharti Airtel stock opened higher at Rs 1174.40 today. Total 14.67 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 172.33 crore on BSE.

BHEL

BHEL shares fell 8.38% from their record high on BSE today. Earlier, BHEL stock hit a record high of Rs 271.90 in the same session. Market cap of BHEL stood at Rs 87,800 crore on BSE. Total 28.24 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 72.73 crore.

Zomato

Shares of Zomato fell over 5% to Rs 157.70 on BSE amid reports that shareholder Antfin Singapore Holdings Pte was looking to offload up to 2 per cent stake or 17.64 crore shares in the firm for Rs 2,800 crore through a block deal. Market cap of Zomato fell to Rs 1.42 lakh crore on BSE. Total 1919.30 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 3077.12 crore.

JM Financial

Shares of JM Financial slipped 19.29% to Rs 77.10 today after RBI barred JM Financial Products (JMFPL) from giving loans against shares and debentures, including sanction and disbursal of loans against the initial public offering (IPO) of shares, with immediate effect. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 7414 crore on BSE.

Mahanagar Gas

Shares of Mahanagar Gas fell over 16% on Wednesday after brokerage Citi downgraded the stock to "sell" from its earlier rating of "buy." It also trimmed its price target on the stock to Rs 1,405 from Rs 1,480 earlier. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 13,068 crore. Total 1.63 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 22.27 crore.

SBI

Shares of SBI hit their record high of Rs 790.15 today amid a correction in the broader market. Market cap of the bank rose to Rs 7 lakh crore. Total 3 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 23.44 crore.

IIFL Finance

Shares of IIFL Finance fell 20% for the second straight session. It slipped to Rs 382.80 on BSE today. Market cap of the firm declined to Rs 14,603 crore. Total 3.69 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 14.11 crore.The stock fell after the RBI asked the NBFC to stop sanctioning or disbursing gold loans with immediate effect on Monday.
