Benchmark indices on Monday touched their all-time high levels, led by gains in automobile, metal and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty eventually closed at 22,666-level after hitting an all-time high of 22,697. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack soared 494 points or 0.67% to end at 74,742. Sensex zoomed 621 points to hit a record high of 74,869 in intraday trade. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Eicher Motors, M&M, Maruti, NTPC and SBI Life while losers included Adani Ports, Nestle India, Apollo Hospitals, Wipro and Sun Pharma.
Stocks such as Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Infosys and TCS were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, PowerGrid, Wipro and ONGC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Exide Industries Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 17.18% on NSE today to settle at Rs 377.15. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 32,057.8 crore.
Info Edge (India) Ltd shares soared 9.71% to close at Rs 6,225.4. The company's m-cap came at Rs 80,546.8 crore.
PNC Infratech Ltd shares surged 8.05% to close at Rs 464.3. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 11,911.1 crore. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, Sundaram Finance, FSN E-Commerce Ventures (Nykaa) and Aster DM Healthcare were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Bandhan Bank Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 6.28% to close at Rs 184.95 on Monday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 29,794.9 crore.
Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd shares slipped 5.23% to end the session at Rs 986.65. The company's m-cap came at Rs 14,086.1 crore today. Kaynes Technology India, REC, Union Bank of India and Intellect Design Arena were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
