The domestic equity market was trading lower in the morning session today. Sensex fell 337 points to 73,061 and Nifty lost 83 pts to 22,189.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, “The market is concerned about the geopolitical issue. Israel’s military chief’s statement that “there will be a response to Iran’s attack on Israel” has increased the probability of escalation of tensions in the Middle East. We don’t know the timing and the nature of the Israeli response, which can be totally unexpected. This is likely to keep the markets weak in the near-term.”
Shares of Zomato were trading flat at Rs 188.30 in early deals. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 1.65 lakh crore. Total 39.86 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 74.97 crore on BSE.
Exide Industries shares hit a 52-week high of Rs 436.90 on BSE. The stock surged over 7 per cent on BSE. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 35,198 crore. A total of 12.89 lakh shares of the firm changed hands, amounting to a turnover of Rs 54.75 crore on BSE.
Shares of Dabur India fell to a fresh 52-week low for the third straight session. Share price of Dabur India touched a low of Rs 489, falling 1.26% against the previous close of Rs 495.25. The stock opened marginally higher at Rs 495.75 in early deals today. Market cap of the FMCG firm declined to Rs 89,115 crore.
Shares of Jio Financial Services gained over 3% to Rs 371 today. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 2.31 lakh crore. A total of 30.46 lakh shares of the firm changed hands, amounting to a highest turnover of Rs 111.79 crore on BSE.
Vodafone Idea stock also saw a high turnover of Rs 69.48 crore after 546.78 lakh shares of the firm changed hands on BSE. The stock fell over 3% to Rs 12.74 today. Market cap of the firm slipped to Rs 62,066 crore.
Adani Power shares rose after two sessions of fall today. The stock clocked a turnover of Rs 11.43 crore after 1.91 lakh shares of the firm changed hands on BSE. The stock climbed over 2% to Rs 606.15 today. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 2.32 lakh crore.
