The domestic equity market was trading lower in the morning session today. Sensex fell 529 points to 73,719 and Nifty lost 153 pts to 22,366.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, “There are many headwinds that will weigh on markets today: the renewed conflict in the Middle East, proposed changes in the India-Mauritius tax treaty and the hotter-than-expected US inflation are negatives. Signals from the crude market indicate that the Iran-Israel conflict is unlikely to escalate. President Biden has clearly indicated that he doesn’t support Israeli retaliation. So, the situation may calm down. However, investors have to be guarded since the element of uncertainty is high during a tense situation like this.”
Shares of Tata Motors fell 3.88% to Rs 978.80 in early deals. The stock was the top loser on Sensex. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 3.32 lakh crore. Total 4.20 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 41.73 crore on BSE.
Shares of Aster DM Healthcare zoomed to their record high in early deals after the firm's board approved a special dividend of Rs 118 per equity share last week. Aster DM Healthcare shares climbed 14.41% to Rs 558.30 against the previous close of Rs 487.95 on BSE. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 26,783 crore. Total 5.22 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 28.48 crore on BSE.
Exide Industries shares hit a 52-week high of Rs 423.80 on BSE. The stock surged 6.56 per cent on BSE. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 35,198 crore. A total of 28.09 lakh shares of the firm changed hands, amounting to a turnover of Rs 54.76 crore on BSE.
Shares of Waaree Renewable Technologies gained 4.15% to a record high of Rs 2054.40 today. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 21,329 crore. A total of 9.86 lakh shares of the firm changed hands, amounting to the highest turnover of Rs 193.55 crore on BSE.
Shares of Jio Financial Services fell over 4% to Rs 351 today. Market cap of the firm slipped to Rs 2.27 lakh crore. A total of 48.58 lakh shares of the firm changed hands, amounting to a high turnover of Rs 173 crore on BSE.
Tata Power stock also saw a high turnover of Rs 139.15 crore after 32.69 lakh shares of the firm changed hands on BSE. The stock fell 1.04% to Rs 432.50 today. Market cap of the firm slipped to Rs 1.38 lakh crore.
IREDA stock clocked a high turnover of Rs 114.86 crore after 72.71 lakh shares of the firm changed hands on BSE. The stock fell 4.16% to Rs 160.20 today. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 43,071 crore.
IRFC stock clocked a high turnover of Rs 114.31 crore after 82.57 lakh shares of the railway firm changed hands on BSE. The stock fell 2.61% to Rs 141.55 today. Market cap of the firm fell to Rs 1.84 lakh crore.
