The domestic equity market was trading lower on Tuesday. Sensex fell 418 points to 73,454 and Nifty lost 119 pts to 22,286. Market cap of BSE-listed firms fell to Rs 392.18 lakh crore.
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services said, "While the market is steady the small cap index is showing some strain with a cut of 0.5% yesterday. Perhaps there is some selling happening in small caps in response to the SEBI advisory to mutual funds flagging concerns of excessive valuations. Weakness in the small cap segment is likely to continue."
Shares of Infibeam Avenues Ltd rose over 9% today after the firm received the final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a payment aggregator for its payment gateway brand, CCAvenue. Infibeam Avenues stock gained 9.54% to Rs 38.45 against the previous close of Rs 35.10 on BSE.
BHEL shares fell a day after hitting record high of Rs 217.20 on BSE. BHEL fell 3.28 per cent to hit a low of Rs 256. Market cap of BHEL stood at Rs 90,429 crore on BSE. Total 25.20 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 65.38 crore.
Shares of NHPC rose 3 per cent to Rs 92.34 on BSE. Market cap of NHPC stood at Rs 91,309 crore on BSE. Total 70.01 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a high turnover of Rs 63.14 crore.
Shares of state-owned NTPC Ltd hit a record high of Rs 358.90 today after NTPC Green Energy inked a JV Agreement with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) for the development of renewable power parks and projects in Uttar Pradesh. Market cap of NTPC stood at Rs 3.45 lakh crore on BSE. Total 2.75 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 9.80 crore.
Shares of Tata Motors touched a fresh record of Rs 1065.60 after its board approvd demerger into two separate listed companies. Market cap of the firm stood at Rs 3.42 lakh crore. Total 29.49 lakh shares of the firm changed hands amounting to the highest turnover of Rs 306.86 crore.
Shares of SBI hit their record high of Rs 783.85 today amid a correction in the broader market. Market cap of the firm rose to Rs 6.98 lakh crore. Total 3.23 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 25.15 crore.
Shares of Tata Chemicals rose 8.20% to Rs 1084.80 today. Market cap of the firm climbed to Rs 26,860 crore. Total 2.66 lakh shares changed hands amounting to a turnover of Rs 27.98 crore.
