Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer announces plans to resurrect the Titanic II project, aiming to build a replica of the ill-fated Titanic and sail it around the world.
Palmer, 69, had previously launched similar plans in 2012 and 2018, but they did not materialize.
However, Palmer held a press conference at the Sydney Opera House to unveil his vision for completing the vessel, promising to create "the ship of love and the ultimate in style and luxury."
The project will be managed by Palmer's company, Blue Star Line.
Titanic II will follow the original journey of the Titanic, departing from Southampton, England to New York, and sailing around the world. The proposed vessel will feature nine decks, 835 cabins, and accommodate up to 2,435 passengers.
The interior will include an exact replica of The Bridge as it was on the original ship.
Despite its historical design, Titanic II will incorporate upgrades to navigation technology and modern safety procedures.
Work on the project halted in 2015 due to payment disputes and faced further delays attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and cruise industry shutdowns.
Palmer expresses confidence in the project's success, citing increased financial resources and a desire for new challenges.
