Chat filters will help you quickly navigate between texts. You won’t have to scroll down endlessly to reach a specific chat. The filters include ‘All', 'Unread', and 'Groups'
Mark Zuckerberg announced the new Chat Filters feature via his official WhatsApp Channel. He also shared a screen grab for easier explanation of the new feature
The filters will be positioned on top of the chat list. The user will just have to tap or swipe to apply filters. The selected filter will be highlighted on top of the chats list
As the name suggests, the ‘All Chats’ filter will let the user view every chat at once. It will be the default filter every time you open the app.
This can be the most useful WhatsApp filter. Often you get a barrage of messages on WhatsApp but you’re not able to get to them immediately and they get buried under the next wave of texts. The Unread filter will bring all these messages to the fore. This way you won’t miss important updates.
Groups have become the preferred mode of communication, be it for work or even for family, friends and extended relatives. You can easily access all your group chats and communities in one place using this filter.
WhatsApp is rolling out these new features to Android and iPhone users in the coming weeks.
