Pandya's appointment as captain stirred controversy, replacing long-standing skipper Rohit Sharma. Pandya rejoins Mumbai Indians after a stint with Gujarat Titans, where he enjoyed success as both a player and captain.
Pandya led Gujarat Titans to victory in their debut season, followed by a runner-up finish in the subsequent year's IPL under his leadership.
Mumbai Indians bolstered their squad with notable signings, including South African bowler Gerald Coetzee, Sri Lankan seamers Nuwan Thushara and Dilshan Madushanka, and Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.
The five-time IPL champions also secured the services of Indian players such as Shreyas Gopal, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, and Naman Dhir to strengthen their roster.
Mumbai Indians will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against Gujarat Titans on March 24th, followed by away games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. They will then return home to face Delhi Capitals on April 7th.
