PATHAAN DROPS ON JAN 25

Finally after five years, Shah Rukh Khan returns to the big screen on Jan 25, with the much-anticipated and controversial Pathaan.

PATHAAN FOLLOWS A FLOP ERA

With a budget of Rs 250 crore, a lot is riding on Pathaan especially given how SRK's last few films have tanked at the box office.

SRK 's Bollywood debut Deewana which became a super-hit, with Baazigar repeating this feat while his villainous role in Darr made it a blockbuster. 

THE 90S ENDED WITH BLOCKBUSTERS

Even though the 90s were dominated by flops (even critical darlings like Dil Se), SRK established himself with blockbusters like DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Even though SRK's experimental works like Swades failed in business, his hits like K3G, Don, Veer Zara, Om Shanti Om continued his rise as "King Khan".

2010-2012: The Moderate hits

SRK's 2010s were kicked off with My Name is Khan, a semi-hit. Meanwhile, Ra One, Don 2, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan were all termed hits.

2013-2014: The blockbuster era

SRK's career reached an all-time high with the blockbuster Chennai Express earning Rs 227 crore and the superhit Happy New Year earning Rs 203 crore.

2014: DILWALE AND THE FALL

Following Chennai Express's success, his next with Rohit Shetty was expected to be a blockbuster. But the critically-panned Dilwale became a semi-hit.

2016-2018: A TURBULENT ERA

2016's Fan was a huge flop while Dear Zindagi and Raees became a hit and semi-hit respectively. His last two films, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero, were duds.

WILL PATHAAN BRING A CHANGE? 

While Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero marked a new low in SRK's career, Pathaan can be an interesting comeback vehicle if it becomes a blockbuster.
