Instagram Broadcast Channels: All you need to know

Instagram New Feature:
Broadcast Channels

Instagram Broadcast Channels are a new way for creators to reach their audience. They are a public, one-to-many messaging tool to engage with fans

What are Instagram
Broadcast Channels?

Broadcast channels help creators share latest updates and behind-the-scenes moments using text, photo, video, voice notes, and polls. Followers can react to content and participate in polls

Broadcast Channels: More
features to come

In the coming months, Instagram will add more features to broadcast channels which will include the ability to bring another creator into the channel to discuss upcoming collabs

Broadcast Channels: More
Engagement

Creators will also be able to collect questions for an AMA via question prompts. This will offer more possibilities for connecting with fans

Broadcast Channels: How
It Works

Once a creator gets access, they can start a broadcast channel from their Instagram inbox. Followers receive a one-time notification to join the channel. Creators can encourage followers to join using the 'join channel' sticker in Stories or by pinning the channel link to their profile

Broadcast Channels:
Subscription Options

Creators with subscriptions can also create a broadcast channel open to all followers. You can also select limited audience to create a broadcast channel limited to paid subscribers for exclusive content

Joining a Broadcast Channel

Joining a Channel will be easy. Users will just need to access the link to the broadcast channel on a mobile device via a creator's Story sticker or the link pinned to their profile

Broadcast Channels in
Instagram Inbox

After joining the channel, it will appear in the Instagram inbox next to other message threads. Followers can react to content and vote in polls, but cannot send messages in these channels. However, users can share a link to their favorite creators' broadcast channels so friends can follow and join

Broadcast Channels:
Early Access

Currently, Instagram is testing broadcast channels with a handful of US creators. Other creators who are interested can sign up to be considered for early access. However, the spots are limited

Coming Soon to Messenger
and Facebook
