Recently, reports of a man who was blinded after an attack by a flesh-eating microbe went viral. Taking this horror to the next level, now reports of a 'flesh-eating' drug, causing skin rotting and 'zombifying' people are doing the rounds
A new drug called Xylazine or “tranq” has been termed as ‘zombie drug’ after it caused deadly symptoms, such as skin rotting, among its consumers
The ‘zombie drug’, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for veterinary purposes, is often used to cut heroin. As per reports, Xylazine is now being illegally used in illicit drugs
Xylazine is also called the ‘tranq drug’ as it is commonly used to tranquilise wild animals and has now paved its way among fentanyl addicts
A few experts reportedly told foreign media houses that the non-opoid Xylazine is not safe for humans as its overdose does not allow one to respond to overdose-reversal treatment

Some of the common symptoms of overuse of Xylazine include excessive sleepiness, respiratory depression, and raw wounds that can become severe and spread rapidly with repeated exposure. If left untreated, the ulcerations can become dead skin called eschar, which requires amputation
As per reports, Xylazine users have experienced wounds on their bodies that became worse after repeated exposure to the drug. In severe cases, the victims may also have to undergo amputations
