Sea of fans bid Dilip Kumar goodbye at Juhu Qabrastan

Dilip Kumar breathed his last at 7.30 am today, July 7, at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. The legendary actor was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and had been in and out of the hospital. He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital on June 6 after he complained of breathlessness. However, he got better and was discharged on June 11. On June 30, he was once again taken to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness and admitted to the ICU in a non-Covid ward.

Dilip Kumar breathed his last at 7.30 am today, July 7, at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. The legendary actor was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and had been in and out of the hospital. He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital on June 6 after he complained of breathlessness. However, he got better and was discharged on June 11. On June 30, he was once again taken to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness and admitted to the ICU in a non-Covid ward. Dilip Kumar was buried at Juhu Qabrastan today with state honours. His body was shrouded in the Tricolour as he was taken to the burial ground.

Born as Mohammed Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922, legendary actor Dilip Kumar has given Bollywood some iconic roles that have gone on to become cult films of Hindi cinema, From Naya Daur to Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam to Ram Aur Shyam, Shakti to Karma, Dilip Kumar beautifully moulded himself with the changing times and the changing face of Hindi cinema, and demanded roles that were a celebration of his calibre. In a career spanning six decades, Dilip Kumar has won several awards and holds the record for winning the most Filmfare Awards for Best Actor in his lifetime.

Dilip Kumar married actress Saira Banu in 1966.
