The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project is being built at a cost of over Rs 17,000 crore
The bridge, touted to be India’s longest sea bridge, will have an Open Tolling System Vehicles wherein toll is collected without the use of traditional toll booths
With the open tolling system facility similar to what Singapore also has in place, vehicles will not have to stop on the bridge to pay the toll
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that 90 per cent civil work of the MTHL has already been done
The under-construction Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will open for traffic in November 2023
The Mumbai Trans Harbour bridge is 22-km-long and will connect Mumbai with its satellite city Navi Mumbai
The bridge will reduce the travel time between South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to just 15 to 20 minutes from two hours
The MTHL project is being implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and has been financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
