ITA has advised Indian nationals in Taiwan to adhere to advisories issued by local authorities and encourages them to disseminate the advisory within their local networks for wider circulation.
The earthquake, measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale, struck Taiwan just before 8:00 am local time, resulting in casualties and widespread damage. The epicentre was located south of Taiwan's Hualien City, with significant aftershocks reported.
The earthquake caused casualties, including individuals crushed by boulders and affected by landslides. Infrastructure damage was reported, highlighting the severity of the seismic event.
Authorities have warned of potential tsunamis and aftershocks, emphasizing the need for vigilance and preparedness among the affected population.
