The hike in cylinder prices has come at a time when people are already troubled by the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country.

Earlier, the price of domestic LPG was increased on March 22 by Rs 50.

However, this is the first increase in LPG rates since early October.

The prices of commercial LPG cylinders were increased earlier on May 1 by around Rs 102 to Rs 2355.50.

Cong hits out at govt over price hike

The Congress hit out at the government over the price hike in domestic LPG cylinders.

The party tweeted, “With prices of domestic LPG crossing Rs. 1000 and commercial LPG at Rs. 2355, how will the common person eat?”

Reacting to the price hike, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre, asking the Union government to “stop tormenting” the people.

Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “The Union government must immediately STOP TORMENTING the people of India! By repeatedly increasing fuel prices, LPG prices and prices of essential commodities, the BJP is actually conducting a great Indian loot. PEOPLE ARE BEING FOOLED.”
