A 4-year-old kid was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Hyderabad. A CCTV footage covered the entire incident at Amberpet locality when the deceased was attacked by four dogs while he walking on the road, closer to his father’s workplace, an automobile workshop, in Amberpet
The CCTV footage showed that the dogs kept attacking the child while he tried to escape. He was bitten on his stomach, face and other body parts
The parents of the deceased are yet to file a police complaint against the increasing menace created by stray dogs in Hyderabad
State Minister KT Rama Rao assured that a permanent solution would be worked out soon to control the stray dog menace in Hyderabad. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi called for an emergency meeting to discuss this issue
This is not a one-off incident of attacks by stray dogs in Hyderabad. Just in 24 hours after this fatal incident, another 4-year-old kid was attacked by stray dogs in front of his house leading to bleeding injuries
In 2022, a 12-year-old boy was killed in a dog attack in Kulsumpura. In December, a young boy was chased and attacked by a stray dog
The attacks by the stray dogs are not limited to Hyderabad. In UP’s Noida sector 100, a dog mauled a 7-month-old baby. Such attacks were not limited to stray dogs. In a viral video, a child was bitten by a pet dog in a lift in Noida apartment
Following the rise in attacks by the dogs, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad civic bodies banned certain dog breeds including American Pit-bull terriers, Dogo Argentino, Rottweiler, Neapolitan mastiff, Boerboel, Presa Canario, Wolf dog, Bandog, American Bulldog, Fila Brasileiro and Cane Corso
As per a survey by Local Circles, 6 out of 10 Indians said stray and pet dog attacks are common in their locality and only 1 in 10 respondents said that the municipal corporation is effectively handling the stray dog menace
