2 Super Overs were needed to decide India’s fate in the third and final T20I against Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma’s 5th T20I hundred and super show in two super overs helped hosts seal the series in Bangalore

Super dilemma

Rohit Sharma coming in to bat for the second Super Over has become a topic of debate. Sharma swapped himself out in the first Super Over but came out to bat in second.

Exception

If batsman retires for any reason, the batsman can resume but will need the opposing captain's okay. If that does not happen, the batsman is retired out.

What does ICC say

In case of  tied super over, any batsman dismissed in any previous Super Over shall be ineligible to bat in any subsequent Super Over.

Confusion

Match officials did not make it clear if Sharma was retired out or retired hurt.

No clarity

Sharma's return in the second Super Over, as per rules, should've come post Ibrahim Zadran's consent. Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott said there was no clarity. "Has there ever been two Super Overs?", he asked.

Dravid adds to the confusion

India coach Rahul Dravid likened the moment to R Ashwin retiring out in an IPL game in 2022 . "Taking himself out was Ashwin-level thinking," he said, adding to the confusion
