World’s Strongest Passports: Japan At Top, Where Does India Stand? 

Henley Passport Index 2023

Henley & Partners, the London-based global citizenship and residence advisory, released the Henley Passport Index for 2023. The index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations

Japan 

Japan continues to top the list of the world’s most powerful passports for the fifth consecutive year. Japanese citizens can travel to as many as 193 countries visa-free or get visa-on-arrival access in destinations across the world

Singapore and
South Korea

Singapore and South Korea tied for the second spot and their citizens can get visa-free access to 192 countries

Germany and Spain

Below the Asian top three, Germany and Spain are tied on 190 destinations

Finland, Italy and
Luxembourg 

The three European nations share the fourth position for the world’s best passport with a score of 189 

Austria, Denmark,
Netherlands and Sweden

Austria, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden all tied in fifth place with their citizens getting access to 188 destinations around the world

Other Top Countries With
The Strongest Passport

France, Ireland, Portugal and the United Kingdom stood at No. 6. on the list with visa-free access to 187 countries. New Zealand and the United States made an appearance at No. 7, alongside Belgium, Norway, Switzerland and the Czech Republic

India’s Position

In the list of world’s most powerful passports 2023, India ranked at the 85th position. The country gives visa-free entry to 59 destinations worldwide

World’s Worst Passport 

Afghan nationals sit at the bottom of the index once again, and can access just 27 countries without requiring a visa in advance
