Delhi schools to reopen for all classes with 50% capacity from November 1: Sisodia

Schools and other educational institutes will resume in-person attendance for all classes in Delhi from November 1 with Covid-safety guidelines in place, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced on Wednesday.

He made the announcement after a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Manish Sisodia said 50 per cent of the students in a class should be called to school, and all staff members need to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

Currently, Delhi schools are conducting in-person classes for students of Class 9 and above.

However, schools shall also continue online classes for students who are not willing to attend classes offline. "Parents cannot force children to go to school," said Manish Sisodia who is also Delhi's education minister.

COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES TO BE FOLLOWED

-Schools will be operating at 50% capacity.

-Parental consent would be compulsory to come to school.

-The education department must ensure Covid-appropriate behavior and see that teachers, staff, and transportation personnel are double vaccinated.

- 90% of the staff has taken at least one vaccine dose.
